In keeping with our continual commitment to high standards of excellence, we now offer the Cellex COVID-19 Serology Test.

Cellex is one of only a few FDA approved tests for the detection of COVID-19 specific antibodies that is not only FDA approved, is also CE compliant and which requires that it be run in a Moderate Complexity Certified CLIA Laboratory (like ours) meaning the chances of false-negative and/or positive results are very low.

Not All Tests Are Created Equal

There are many tests available on the market, but most are not reliable as they are not specific to the COVID-19 antibodies. When the test is not specific or sensitive, false-positive results may be from another coronavirus exposure (of which, there are hundreds) and false negatives may occur because the test is not sensitive enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can get the test? Testing is available for new and established patients, of any age.
  • How long do results take? Results are ready in just over 30 minutes.
  • Does insurance cover the visit? At this time we are filing directly with Aetna and the Manatee County School District Insurance plans for the costs associated with this test. Medicare has not yet given us clear direction but expect it to be shortly forthcoming. For ‘Self-Pay’ payers and those who have other kinds of commercial insurance, we are collecting $195.00 payment at the time of service for the cost of the test and visit. We will provide you with a copy of the invoice that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
  • Do I need an appointment? No, simply come in during our office hours (8 am-8 pm seven days a week).
  • Do I need to see a physician/medical provider? No, you can choose to just have the test done by our nursing staff (but one of our providers will always be here to see you if necessary).
  • Is this test cleared by the FDA? Yes, this is one of very few that have received FDA approval under the Emergency Use Act. Most other commercially available tests on the market have not received approval.
  • Can any medical office perform this test? No, only those who have received the CLIA certification for moderate complexity testing like we have. This certification assures that a high level of quality assurance is met.
